|Our time with Jim & Paula went by all too quickly. They returned to Anchorage on Monday & called Tuesday morning. I answered the phone & Jim said "I've just got one thing to say, brrrrrrr"!!! It's been a very cold winter there in Alaska & looks like that will continue. They sure would have liked to stay here in the warm sun much longer. But their 'j-o-bees' were calling. Jim is running a gun club right now & Paula is a parole officer for 'hardened criminals'. Yep, that tiny little thing is a parole officer! And a darn good one we hear. Not one to mess with!
As you can see in today's photos, she's quite a shot too. I mentioned in an earlier post that they brought salmon, halibut & moose meat on the plane with them. We had a couple of meals with it while they were here, and one of those meals included moose steaks. Surprisingly, very good! I'm not much of a game eater, so I was a bit apprehensive but I should have known better. They've been preparing fish & game for years & know all of the tricks. Both Jim & Paula took a moose down this year so their freezer is plum full. Haven't had any of the halibut yet but looking forward to that soon.
My cousin Lois & her hubby Keith are arriving in town on Sunday for a few days. I haven't seen them in many years. They reside in California so you'd think we would see each other more often. But, we haven't been down their way & they were both working until recently so they haven't been up here either. They are both retired now so hopefully we'll hook up a lot more. They have a travel trailer so we're planning to convince them that South Dakota is a great place to visit this summer! Mom & Joyce will be coming to town on Monday to visit with them as well. Can't wait to see them all!
