The weather finally turned cloudy and we had one planned activity to get in so we headed off to Boldt Castle on Heart Island. This was a planned castle for George Boldt's wife who unfortunately died before it was finished and he simply walked away from it. After falling to ruins the castle and grounds were taken over by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority who have been in a restoration project. What a FANTASTIC job they have done. The grounds are beautiful and much of the castle has been restored to the originally planned architectural blueprints. We also toured the Boldt Boat House which houses some of his many boats and yachts. George Boldt was an amazingly wealthy man the gilded age of the rich at this summer playground. After returning to the campground we left Don and Jeanne to their own and we drove across the border to Canada to visit with friends we made while camping in San Diego. Raymond and Jenny invited us to their camp and their beautiful motor coach. They are full timers as well and spend the summers in the Thousand Islands. We had great fun catching up swapping stories of our travels. We were treated to a wonderful meatloaf dinner with boiled potatoes and yellow beans, salad and desert. The day was comfortable with a few drizzles but we were able to eat on the deck. Their native language is French but fully fluent in English and it is very interesting talking and enjoying their accent. We left Canada and came back home to a final campfire. We are all leaving today to various destinations. Enjoy the pics.
