We arrived in Pigeon Forge and discovered that we arrived the day they shut Dollywood down for a week to decorate for Christmas. Ah well, there is certainly plenty else to do in the area. In addition to our driving tours we decided to take in a couple of shows. So, we took in the Smith Family Show a couple of nights ago. Pigeon Forge offers so many family oriented shows it was hard to choose. We'd planned to see the Hatfield & McCoy Show as well but ran out of time.

Actually, when we purchased our dinner show at the Smith Family Theater we presented a 2 for 1 coupon and discovered it was actually buy a dinner show and get a Free second show the next day entitled Back to the 50's! Such a deal...Both shows were great, we thoroughly enjoyed them! Their lead singer Matt, was an excellent Elvis Impersonator. His natural voice sounds very much like Elvis. The dinner was very tasty too, all you could eat buffet with all the dishes you'd expect to get in the 'South'. You know baked & fried chicken, mashed 'taters, mac & cheese, veggies, meatloaf, pinto beans, rolls, sweet tea & 3 kinds of dessert. We only visited once, lol!

At the end of the performance we were offered the opportunity to buy the show we'd just seen on DVD for $20. We were already inclined to do it because we enjoyed the show so much. Then they announced it also include 5 CD's of the Smith Families music and that cinched the deal! We waited about 10 minutes at the end of the show for them to finish running the DVD's off. The show included country, oldies, comedy, impersonations & Gospel. We highly recommend it and can certainly understand why they were awarded Best Show & Best Entertainers seven times!

Afterward we drove down the main drag to take a few pics of the sights & lights. We stopped at a Christmas Store and I had a great time checking out the window displays. And, I got to whisper in Santa's ear too! The Titanic looks very much like the one in Branson & The Opry had Christmas music playing. A bit early for me, but it was pretty. We drove out to Dollywood to take a few pics hoping it would be lit up. Unfortunately, the closest you can get is the parking lot. It appears you ride a tram to the actual property, similar to Disneyland I'm sure. It was hidden in the trees. Ah well, maybe next time....

You can hear 4 of the songs the Smith Family sings at the link below. These were not done at our show but are on the CD's we purchased. Just click the blue arrow that points to the right. The one just to the left of where is says TRACK in black. The one next to it is the pause button...Enjoy!
