It been awhile since I have posted to the web site, we are still in Crescent, Oregon. Pete & I have done a little fishing, some shopping & enjoying a few meals out. We did take a drive to the Lower Deschutes River off of Highway 197. We took this drive on Sept. 5th, I know I've waited a bit before posting this, but I've been dragging my feet.
The road that runs along the river starts out as asphalt then turns to a washboard dirt road. The mountain sides were like mounds of rocks fused together, really cool looking. Pete was expecting to see some serious fly fishing going on....but nope....we saw very few fisherman on or by the river.
We checked out a county RV park in the town of Maupin (thinking that we might come back this way again sometime) however....the park was quite tiny & the rigs were packed in their sites like sardines....not somewhere that we would consider staying (if you have a small rig, it would be perfect.
