Annie & Rudy!

Dear Journal,

As we now make our fairly routine drive from Petaluma back to Half Moon Bay to await the imminent arrival of baby Liliana, I have time to reflect on the days of November thus far. It must seem pretty boring to those die-hard friends who occasionally check into these archives to find little of travel-related interest. But, for me, it's been all about family time and for this opportunity I am truly grateful!

Three mornings of awakening at 5 a.m. or earlier to be at Wendy and Norm's when Christina woke up and wandered into the living room, at first a little surprised to find Grandma and Grandpa, and then informing us it was time for Handy Manny, followed by Jungle Junction and Imagination Movers; the routine evolved. We managed to get her to eat a package of yogos, sometimes a little warm chocolate milk and then the "let's get dressed for school" game! What fun it is to dress little girls with all their adorable clothes! She proudly showed us around her day-care facility, her art work, storage bins, meeting her little friends and teachers. We gloated!

We went to Sacramento for a reunion with Howard's step-sister Jackie from Las Vegas who was visiting her son Mark. Unfortunately, Don and Bea from Sutter Creek could not attend but Jackie with boyfriend Jerry, Mark and wife Lureen, put on a spectacular buffet and we, accompanied by Stephanie and Gary, and some of their local friends, had a great afternoon! We topped off our visit with college football, World Series baseball and a great barbecue with Steph, Gary and Rob at their house. Good times!

During this same weekend, new puppy Annie came home to her Petaluma family. They are overjoyed, of course, but there are logistics to work out. Norm took 3 days off for "family time" to get her settled in and acquainted with Rudy the kitty. They were best friends almost immediately! We were happily called into service to puppy-sit for the remainder of our stay, going over a couple of times a day to let her out of her kennel, go outside and have some social time with Rudy. We laughed hysterically at their wrestling matches which usually ended with both of them entwined in sleep!

And now, in a few (hopefully) short days Lily will be the focus of our days and caring for and helping Terri and Clint. Terri called this morning and said "You know, Mom, the baby is due on Saturday but it's also the first crab feed of the season....Why don't we have crab first and then baby"!! Works for me, Darling!
