We have arrived in Schenectady. What a beautiful drive! The weather was clear & sunny, temp about 58. Sweatshirt & jeans today. We got a late start (as usual), 11:37am when we pulled out. We decided to skip the toll road I-90 & take Hwy 20 into Albany. Well, for viewing purposes it was fabulous. But for pulling purposes, it was terrible. Up, down, up down & lots of stop lights as we went in & out of little villages. The climbs were steep enough that we were floored & only making 32 MPH. And then major braking coming down. Even with the tow haul package the truck was working hard. It did a great job but about 1/3 of the way we decided to make our way over to 1-90 after all. Which changed our destination from Albany to Schenectady. Our beautiful view was gone but it cut 1 hour off our arrival time. Worth the trade I guess. The toll was $8.20 but we probably would have burned that much in diesel anyway! But someday we will be back to finish that same drive without our 5'er. We highly recommend it!

We called Jerry & Ann to let them know we were getting in earlier than they expected. No answer. Okay, maybe we can find an RV park fairly close. We finally chose a Passport America park outside of Schenectady. It is very nice. A pretty lake, large spacious sites & $15 per night. We were in process of getting set up when Jerry called us. Said they would be right over. I told them to take their time as I needed to clean house. We normally clean on moving days as the rest of the time we are on the go. They gave me about 30 minutes...oh well, I can clean tomorrow!

We had a wonderful reunion with them. Seems like forever since we saw them last. They both look good. And we haven't seen Josh in 3 years. He was 11 at that time. He is now a very handsome 14 year old young man. We hear he has an eye for the ladies, already! At dinner we learned that Science is his favorite subject although he also likes art (architecture). We had a terrific Italian dinner & our time together was over way to soon. So, we have decided to give up our spot here & move to their house in the morning. That way we'll have plenty of time for visiting without all the driving daily as they live in Clinton Park, about 30 minutes away. And, they have some wonderful day trips in mind which we can do together. Like Cooperstown & Saratoga & somewhere in Massachusetts! We love experienced tour guides! Especially when they're family!

Gosh we are excited to be here. It is so beautiful & so different than home. I am in constant awe of the homes, the architecture, the trees & the beauty all around. Hope the weather holds for awhile. It is going into the 30's tonight, 50's tomorrow, but then there is a warming trend by weeks end. I vote for that!
