We've been wanting to check out our new boat seat & also give Janet & Steve a ride on our Sea Eagle so we scheduled an outing for Wednesday, late afternoon. It's getting dark earlier now and we wanted to be off the lake by 7pm or so. They arrived with fried chicken, potato salad & cole slaw and we headed to Stockade for a picnic and hopefully a pretty sunset. The weather was perfect, about 75 degrees. We enjoyed our meal first & then Janet & I took off for a leisurely ride.
There were only a couple of other folks on the lake & it was so quiet & peaceful. Our first stop was at the island to check out the osprey's. They have several nests again this year. Then we slowly made our way along the shoreline enjoying the pretty rock formations. It's still very green here in the Hills, especially for this late in the year, and the rocks, clouds and trees make pretty reflections on the water.
Dark clouds formed as our evening progressed and just as we headed back for shore we got hit with a few rain drops. Uh oh, looked like we were going to get soaked for a minute or two. But no, the rain cloud passed quickly and we made it back to shore dry and in time for Steve & Larry to take a short jaunt as well. They didn't get much of a ride as Janet & I used up most of the time. But they can go another time before we take off at the end of the month. We loaded the boat back onto the truck about 7:30pm, right at dusk.
Janet & I were loading the small stuff & I had just put my camera away when bam, it happened. My honey's feet shot out from under him as he pushed the boat forward & he wound up sitting on the bottom of the lake, water up to his waist or so. Wet watch, wallet, phone & underwear...He wasn't hurt at all, just wet. And I missed the whole thing! Darn, no picture to share. We laughed like fools. Fortunately, everything survived the bath just fine. We have sheep skin seat covers so I made him strip to drive home, lol. I ran into the house for dry shorts when we arrived so he could exit the vehicle to say goodbye to our friends. Another missed photo opportunity, darn! Anyway, we had a great time and I did get a few nice sunset pics.
By the way, our Paddleski's current inflatable seats are good but I've been wanting to get Larry a swivel seat that sits a bit higher for fishing & comfort. Our friends Tim & Crystal hooked us up with a great set-up including rod holders. Boy, those came in handy yesterday when we went fishing. But more on that later. As you know, we LOVE our Sea Eagle. It's very compact, weighs less than 50 lbs & is a cinch to launch. One of our best RV'ing purchases for sure! If you like to fish, float small rivers and rapids or just take a leisurely ride, these boats are for you. There are several makes, sizes and models available. You can check them out on our friends site and if you place an order you won't get a better price, service or advice anywhere else. Just tell them Larry & Lee Ann sent you, okay! Sea Eagle
