|Hi from Edmonton
We got up early enough to stop for breakfast at a fabulous restaurant, WHIFS. The name stands for waffles, hamburgers, ice cream, flapjacks, salads. While eating, look up, way up and watch a few model trains travelling around the restaurant. This place is only open till 2 p.m. and during lunch you may wait up to an hour to get a seat. To be honest it is worth every minute, the food, service and prices are great.
After breakfast we headed north to Edmonton. We stopped to stay with Lois & Leighton in their new home in Sherwood Park. They just completed building this home that they designed themselves. They have tried to keep it as ‘green’ as possible while still making it a home for living and entertaining for themselves and their son.
Since this was our last chance to visit before we leave for BC we tried to see as many people as possible. We stopped to have supper with Joanne & Peter and wish them luck in selling their home – they have recently placed it on the market and hope to be building their dream home in the next short while. Nichole & Morgan came over as well and we are excited about their news – a new addition will be arriving soon. Joanne is very, VERY excited about becoming a grandmother for the first time!
Our next visit was to see the newlyweds, Gertie & Andy. Our friends who in their mid 70s, early 80s decided to get married just a few weeks ago. Congratulations to you both – we wish you many years of happiness.
On our way south we stopped in Stettler to meet Wes & Cheryl for dinner. We spent a few hours eating and catching up on all the news. It is amazing how time flies when you get busy talking! We had a really good time visiting everyone and we were sad to say goodbye. We continued back to Drumheller for our last 3 days of work – 25th, 26th and 27th!
Take care, Peter & Connie
