Bob and Shirley's Great Adventure 2011-12 travel blog

Now that we all have had an opportunity to see the devastation caused by the storms and tornadoes I have to be blatantly honest here, I was very scared. We were right in the thick of things for 3 days. It did take our focus off having the fun we had been having. Our prayers of gratitude for our safety and hope for the those so struck by the storms all across the South East. So, let's move forward. The sun finally came out yesterday and we took the opportunity to drive 270 miles to Dothan Alabama where our youngest daughter Collins lives with her husband Scott and their two puppy dogs Jemmy and Emma. Great day for a trip. No wind, mostly flat back roads and big honkin' dually got 13.4 MPG. We stopped in Selma for lunch and crossed the bridge that began the civil rights movement. We set up in the RV park in Dothan and went to dinner with the kids. This stay is for 3 nights and a rare treat which gives us time to do some maintenance on the camper and truck. Minor stuff but we still are having problems with our kitchen sink hot water hose and one of the seals on the slide needs repairing or replacing. Having a guy come out to our site to work on it. Getting the oil changed on the truck and extender valves on the inside dual wheels so I can add air. Washing the rig, laundry, a trip to Camping World and FINALLY back to a state that has Publix. Generally boring stuff but after the past few days we will take boring. Pics tomorrow.
