Goodbye Kuching, and Bollywood Cafe

Hello Serian, err durian!

Having fun cooking dinner - a first on this trip!

After finishing my book during breakfast, we set out for Serian having accomplished something so soon in the day. The ride to Serian involved finding our way out of Kuching. Borneo has rivers that snake through it everywhere. Roads leaving out of town often meander along rivers, instead of following the most direct line.

Riding into Serian later in the day we were greeted by some massive durians. During the process of finding a place to stay, we met Cyril, who came over to Agnes asking her if we wanted to stay at his place for free. The place turned out to be a restaurant converted from an old home that once belonged to his father. The restaurant was recently closed for business so that Cyril could give his landscaping company in Kuching more attention. After sharing a beer, we went to the town market and purchased local fruits, vaggies and fish that was to become our very tasty dinner. It was nice for us to be in someone's kitchen, and help out with the dinner. It made us miss home a little, especially having the ability to make our own meals.
