I left Talkeetna Camper Park at 09:35AM. Temperatures were in the low 50’s with lots of clouds. I drove Alaska Route 3 south to Wasilla, Alaska where there was light rain when I arrived. It was quite windy during most of the drive today.

I saw one moose standing in a small pond alongside the highway but there was no place to pull over to get a picture.

I arrived at Big Bear RV Park at 11:25AM. I had asked for a 50amp full hook-up site but all that was available was a 30amp pull through. When I got to the site the power pedestal had a 30amp receptacle on each side of the post for what must have been short back in sites at one time. I have a double 30amp splitter that goes into a “Y” to a 50amp plug so I was able to connect to each 30amp and wound up with a 50amp full hook-up site. I told management and because I was supposed to have a 50amp site they let me stay as is without an increase in price which was nice of them.

I went in to Wasilla looking for a replacement safety cable for my tow vehicle but was unable to find one. I will try again tomorrow in Anchorage.

I drove to Palmer, Alaska stopping for lunch at McDonalds. I then drove out to Independence Mine on the Palmer-Fishhook Road. I had plans to go over Hatcher Pass to Willow and then loop back to Wasilla. I was told at the RV Park and one of the places I had stopped for the safety cable that Hatcher Pass was still closed from all the snow they had this winter so I turned around at Independence Mine and returned to the RV. Very low clouds in the mountains.

I was finally able to get my Internet locked onto the satellite but still unable to lock on to the DirecTV satellite. The only RV roof mounted dishes I have seen that appear to work are Dish Network. The DirecTV satellite is just too low in the sky to get a signal.

75.1 RV miles today – 1 hour and 50 minutes driving time.

66.3 SUV miles today.
