Hwy 2 just outside of Iron Mountain, love the clouds!...

This is Little Bay de Noc, just outside of Gladstone, we really...

I love lighthouses, they always seem so welcoming...

A quick shot of Lake Michigan, beautiful blue...

Miss Onyx is glad to be here...

Our new home for the next few days, smells so good...

Another long day of driving today, 247 miles. It was a beautiful drive though so the miles went by quickly. We stopped at a Farmer's Market along the way & bought peaches, plums, nectarines, watermelon & more tomatoes. I continue to be amazed at how fresh they taste. Soooo good!

We are camped just outside of Sault Ste. Marie. A passport america park for $9 the first night. $15 per night after that or $70 per week, full hook-ups. It is quiet, we have missed most of the summer traffic with school starting almost everywhere on Monday. I am ready to stay put, at least for the next 3-4 days. My rear end has had it! Time to get out & walk...

By the time we got set up it was 7:30pm, as we crossed the time line early this morning. We are now on Eastern time. We were starving so we went down the street to the local pizza/restaurant. The food was very good. It was crowded & noisy though as they were having a party in the same room for a young man leaving for college. We witnessed him coming through the door to shouts of "surprise!" Not much of a surprise I'm sure as all of their cars were in the parking lot. But they were all having fun. Small town America is way cool!

The temperature ran between 70-72 degrees all day. We need no weatherman at all. You can just count on the fact that it will be 70 everyday! And it stays quite comfortable for sleeping at night also. Wonder how long I'll be saying that one?!!!

Looking forward to checking out the area for the next couple of days. The Upper Peninsula is very beautiful & unlike anywhere else we have been so far. We particularly liked the towns of Escanaba & Gladstone. We only got a quick glimpse of Lake Michigan. I was driving at the time & Larry was snoozing, so when we passed the one scenic overlook I didn't stop as I didn't want to wake him. Plenty of more chances coming up, I'm sure. Off to bed for now.
