Yesterday the bunch all drove from Sheridan Wyoming, just an overnight stop, to Sundance, Wyoming. We are here to see the Devils Tower. It was an uneventful drive. We all saw lots of Antelope and Horses and Cows. We also saw an open pit coal mine.
We arrived at this RV park around noon, and everyone got set up and then took naps. What an active bunch we are. The temperatures here have certainly been much cooler than we are hearing them be at home. We are averaging around the high 80's during the day and it is cooling off lots when the sun goes down.
This morning we all did our assorted chores and then packed a lunch and headed out for Devils Tower. It was about a half an hour drive from where we are camped.
The area around this monument is loaded with lots of prairie dogs! We of course think they are cute, but I am sure the folks that live aroud here think they are pests.
We were all very impressed with this hunk of rock. They had a nice visitors center up there and we heard a talk on the geology and history of this monument. Some of us hiked up to the base and Juliann walked the trail half way around.
We then drove down to a nice picnic area and had our lunch in the shade. After lunch we stopped at a gift store on the way home to buy a few trinkets. We all arrive safely back at our rigs around 2:00 in the afternoon.
As we type this, most of the group are in napping. There may be a card game or something when the weather turns a little cooler later.
Tomorrow we are headed for a little town near Rapid City, South Dakota, called Black Hawk. We are scheduled to be in that campground until July 5th. We have decided to just park it for the long holiday weekend and there is lots to see and do in that area.
