I hope you all enjoyed your Valentine's Day. Larry & I had a relaxed morning with a late breakfast. Nope, no breakfast in bed, although my honey gave me a full body massage last night. Wow, he did a great job, you'd think he went to school to start a new career as a masseuse! We made a pact a couple of years ago that I got a massage on Monday's and Larry on Thursday's. We even considered purchasing a table but finally thought better of it due to room constraints. When we lived in the stick house we got 2 for 1 coupons regularly from the massage school located just a few blocks from the house. $32 for an hour, for 2...such a deal! We loved going & really miss it. If you got lucky & got a student nearly ready to graduate it was terrific. But, like I said, my honey does a VERY good job, I'm a lucky girl! Our schedule has been a bit lax of late, but we have recommitted to the schedule. Yippee!!!
This afternoon we decided to check out the Desert Bar, an old mining camp that was converted to a bar/restaurant back in '75. Booze, burgers & hot dogs are the fare. Bring cash, no credit. And definitely no cheese! A different band each weekend & lots & lots of patrons! Up to 250 a day. Better arrive early for parking.
To tell you the truth, we forgot about it until yesterday. We knew it was only open on weekends & assumed that meant Friday & Saturday. Nope, it's Saturday & Sunday so wish we had thought of it sooner. Anyway, we decided to drive the 5 miles each way up a rough, dirt, rocky road & check it out. We were the only vehicle on the road & enjoyed the view along the way. Unfortunately there were No Trespassing signs posted when we arrived. I fudged a bit & trudged up the road for a bit of a better view, although I couldn't see much. So I'm providing a link to their website in case you are interested in learning more. Next time we're in the area we'll definitely be back. Looks like fun for all out here! The Desert Bar
Arriving back home we grilled a couple of steaks to go along with our baked potatoes & salad. We then watched the 1984 Ron Howard film 'Splash'. You know, the one with Tom Hanks & Daryl Hannah (she plays a mermaid). It was the first movie we watched together when we were dating. Ahhh, brought back fond memories and seemed an appropriate way to end our day.
We head out tomorrow, back to Vegas to get our window awnings replaced again. With the correct one's this time. We'll be going to see Mom Thursday for her birthday with a quick trip into St George, Utah. Anyway, thanks for stopping by & we'll see you on down the road....
P.S. Happy Birthday to nephew Kenny! We love you, hope you had a great day!
