|We arrived in picton after a 3 hour ferry trip, which was actually really nice as the ferry travelled though Marlborough Sound. The scenery was lovely combination of green forest hill with turquoise blue waters!
Picton itself was a small village in the center of the sound with a small habour full of very posh boats! We had booked into a five star campsite right on the coast which turned out to be loverly, with outdoor gas bbqs and a heated swiming pool, or not so heated! We headed into town to the local supermarket to get our xmas supplies and later headed out for a few bevvies... unlike England everywhere was closed up for the night so we made the most of our xmas beers and had a few back at the site!
The Next day was christmas day and it was one of the most sunny days we had seen in a long time! Christmas magic! Despite the heat we where determind to wear our santa hats all day avec sun glasses!!! Cool Santas! We opened our presents in the van! Steve got a CD and a wicked Element wallet plus a few little suprises and Loz got a rather smart Roxy watch! After that steve headed to the kitchen and produced what can only be described as the best full english in the world! So on very full tums we went out for a xmas walk onto the beach and through the parks and back through town!!! In the afternoon we decided to get even more fat and had a big old bbq! Not quite mums xmas dinner but it wasnt half bad! Burgers, Sausage, Curry Rice and Potato Salad and a few mince pie for Loza!
So with Xmas, the next day we were heading over the Queen Charlote track and to the Abel Tasman National Park. Not before a quick fried breaky using the rest of the grub before we left. Be rude not to!
