This update may be of interest to those of you who have been up to Fun Valley and the South Fork Area.

Some one told us yesterday that the US Forest Service had opened the road beyond Big Meadows Reservoir. So, we took a drive today to check out some of the fire damage.

It really hurt to see the devastation. We have hiked several times for many miles in and around some of this area before the big fire. But, in one picture there is a hope of renewal - flowers blooming anew in the blackened wasteland.

The dirt road is open at least to Hunter Lake. It looks like the fire did not get to Hunters Lake. The road may be open all the way to Trout Creek

We have done a little hiking so far. We went up the mountain just to the south of Fun Valley a couple of times. Also, we trekked up to Lobo Lookout/Continental Divide trail a couple of times. We went on a new trail, Alder Creek Bench as well as made a short hike up one side of Big Meadows reservoir. We would go hiking more, but it has rained a lot so far in August! I am beginning to grow webbed feet!
