Days End!

Our "Fugue" disorder is running rampant and after 3 weeks in Petaluma (but who's counting) we need to get out of the Elk's Lodge RV parking lot! Our wonderful friends, Don and Joan, have a beautiful 5 acre, Oak tree studded site in Ione in the CA. gold country and we have "parking privileges"!

Joan, Don and I go back to pre-Howard days. Joan and I worked together in real estate and were best friends out of the office. And now the four of us continue to be best friends after all these years. They travel part-time in their new 5th wheel and just bought a new Ford 450 truck with dual rear wheels and full back seat and will be heading out the first of January for a couple of months in Arizona.

Sitting in our motorhome we have a 180 degree view of rolling hills, horses, and goats with a daily visit by wild turkeys and blazing sunsets thrown in for good measure. There is no need for outside entertainment though the area provides much in sight-seeing opportunities: wineries, gold mines, the old gold rush towns of Sutter Creek, Jackson and Mokelumne Hill.

We relax, visit, eat and read. I work on organizing my voluminous photo files, repeatedly edit the lay-out for our annual photo card which now, after all these years, I feel needs an insert of the "Dear Friends, Our year, etc." variety. I have ordered double-sided glossy photo paper as the previously used matte was not as dramatic. With so many pictures from so many beautiful locations why not just send out a CD. Oh, this could really get out of hand!

The only downside to our stay here is absolutely no cell phone or broadband reception. You know how hard this is for me so now we are researching 3-watt cellular/broadband amplifier/antenna packages and have pretty much decided on the Wilson brand by Prime Cellular. This would come in handy in a number of other locations, including Parker, AZ. at La Paz County Park. The Direct TV satellite works fine, however.

We will now head to Sacramento for Christmas.
