Today was my 60th birthday. Wow, how time flies. I just can't believe that I'm not 35 anymore, except for when I look in the mirror, LOL! I still feel very young at heart and I guess that's the important part, right? I look forward to at least 40 more and hopefully most of them will still be on the road. It would have been nice to physically be with my family, but I did enjoy a very special day with my 'Custer' family.
It actually started last night when Terry & Dawn came over to Dick & Lou's and joined us for dinner. We enjoyed a Mexican meal, followed by cobbler and ice cream. I have been asking Dawn for her homemade salsa recipe for sometime so she included that with my gift. I don't know if you've seen the onion storage containers but I understand from sister Bonnie that they work very well. I also received one for tomato storage too. Cool, I'll let you know how they work out!
Today we were invited to Steve and Janet's home for an applewood smoked pork loin bbq. Dick & Lou, Jessie & Cherlee and Van joined us as well. Terry & Dawn stopped by for just a quick hello as they had a prior commitment, and they are leaving for a Colorado vacation in the morning and still had plenty to do before their departure. We won't see them again until next year so it was nice they stopped by.
Steve & Janet have just completed adding a fireplace/patio ring and it is a wonderful spot for entertaining! The stone work is beautiful and the fireplace made for a nice warm gathering place as the sun sank for the evening. We convinced Steve to break out his guitar and strum a few tunes for us. Boy, he is so good!
My hubby ordered a cake so after our meal settled a bit, I enjoyed their rendition of Happy Birthday before digging in. Hey family, they sound better than you do, no screeching!!! LOL...Steve & Janet gifted me with a rose and a balloon and Dick & Lou added a new state shot glass to my curio cabinet collection. And a couple of bags of my favorite soft mints. Thanks guys!
Of course, I have to mention that I got calls & cards from family and a ton of birthday wishes on Facebook. And Mom & Dad sent me a lovely blouse and a DVD concert by Carroll Roberson, one of my all time favorite gospel singers. You may recognize the voice/name from the wonderful e-mail 'One Pair of Hands' that went around. You can view and listen to the video I'm referring to on Youtube here: One Pair of Hands
So that's it for now. Thanks for making it such a special day, I love and appreciate you all!
