Clouds rolling over the mountain this morning

El Camino - Day 24

Maximum elevation = 1336m, minimum elevation = 668m. 10 - 20 degrees. Mostly sunny.

Cuckoo cuckoo as we set off this morning. Unfinished climbing to be done. Approximately 5km to O'Cebreiro, the region of Galicia and a coffee/hot chocolate. Started out in the sunshine. We could see the cloud rolling over the top of the mountain like a waterfall. Ended up walking underneath it on the path and entered a decidedly chilly O'Cebreiro. After coffee we headed out on the undulating ridge. No views today - a total white-out. By the time we reached the maximum height today at Alto de Poio, we'd cleared the cloud but could still look back to see it embracing O'Cebreiro, Linares and Hospital de la Condesa. A quick drink after the steep climb and we made quick time on the slightly downhill path to Fronfria and then Biduedo for lunch. Warm in the sun walking, cold in the shade sitting.

The last 6km to Triacastela and our home for the night was downhill into a beautiful green valley. Mostly pastures and dairy cows. A welcome relief to be in at 3pm. I've developed a cold so spent the afternoon/evening resting while the lads held the fort.

Today's distance = 26km

Total distance = 655km

Yellow VW count unchanged.
