|It's Friday morning and time to leave Anchorage and return to the Russion River campground to check on our camper. It was a little scarey leaving it and most of our worldly belongings just sitting in the overflow parking lot at the campground. The people in charge at the campground assured us it would be safe, and that we can leave it here as long as we need to (at no charge), but we were still a little uncomfortable, i.e. would the frig continue to work? Would we run out of propane? We made a quick stop at the GM dealership to check on the status of our truck, they had just gotten started on it that morning (it's Fri., they've had it since Wed. am, argh!!), but it's out of our control, we have a rental car, we're fine!! We got some stuff out of the truck (fishing gear, yeah!) and headed out of town. We met up with Henry & Veronica at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a must see according to most people. We did the walking tour of the Wildlife center, it was a couple miles but well worth it, saw lots of animals and took some great pictures. We got back to the campground and our beloved home on wheels is just fine, lots of propane, frig doing what it's supposed to do, life is GOOD!! We talked to the people in charge at the park and they again assured us we can stay as long as we want, free of charge, use the park facilities (what they have, dump station & fresh water), etc. I cannot say enough about how kind these people have been to us, and it's a Federal Park (with lots of rules and regulations), they're just turning a blind eye to the rules. We settled back into camp with Henry & Veronica beside us. H & V drive a motorhome and are pulling a Jeep, and they have a gas generator as well as solar panels. They have allowed us to plug in our trailer to their motorhome, so when they run their generator, we have same power, nice! It was a wonderful day, and we ended with Salmon & Chicken on the grill with H & V; V cooked, it was delish!!
