We left Alamogordo and headed into the mountains once again. It was a beautiful ride and we got 12.4 mpg overall! When arrived at the summit in Cloudcroft NM there was snow everywhere. The roads were wet in spots but no ice. It was a beautiful ride and very scenic. We pulled into the city of Carlsbad and had two choices for camping on our half price Passport America plan. The first was pretty crumby so we went to the second only to find that TODAY they merged with the crumby place and would have to go back there to register. Bad. We drove on. Carlsbad caverns is about 25 miles from the city of Carlsbad. We pulled into an RV campground 7 miles from the caverns (no camping at the National Park). It's OK but we are not very impressed with the southern part of New Mexico as a whole. Neat things to do but not as splendid as Arizona. We are in for the night and looking forward to touring the cavern in the morning. All is well (the entire rig is ready for a bath) and we continue to LOVE being full time RV'ers. Enjoy the pics.
