Bisbee AZ that is. We stayed another night so we could see Bisbee. And what a town it is. Mining was what put Bisbee on the map. Where there were booms and busts in the 1800's, Bisbee's mining industry lasted until the early 1970's. We started the morning with a tour of a copper mine. Well to be exact, I made it 100 feet in and it got too close for me and I along with 2 others bailed out. But Shirley rode the little train into the mine 1500 feet! She said it was fantastic. Then after moving to a different site in the same RV park we headed to town. Another walker to everything of interest. We began with a trolley tour then went to lunch in a really neat restaurant. After lunch we stopped into the Visitor's Center to ask about a ball park built in 1909. As we waited for the man to finish talking with others, I said to Shirley we know this guy, but from where? When it was our turn I said we know you. Do you do this kind of work somewhere else? He really looked quizzical and said I'm the light house keeper at Copper Harbor, Michigan. YES, we took that tour over the summer and he WAS the man that gave it to us! What are the odds? 2034 miles away in a different part of the country and we meet again. We walked the town which is full of eclectic shops, restaurants and saloons and had a very good day. There are also historic hotels and a fine museum. J.A. Jance is an author who writes about Sheriff Joanna Brady and the Cochise County Sheriff's department. Her books take place in and around Bisbee and it was neat for me to see some of the stuff she writes about. Enjoy the pics.
