Our first night on Newfoundland

It was very gloomy and wet

That is snow in the middle of that photo

Nothing but trees as far as you can see and no rain...

Crossing to Newfoundland was easy and relaxing. I rarely have the time to read a book during the day. It is usually my late evening delight before going to sleep. But, on this almost 8 hour journey, I got to sit back in a very comfortable chair, with a spectacular view of the ocean. Although it was raining, the seas were not too bad.

Finding the first RV park in the gloom and rain was not fun. I had planned to stop at the visitors center, pick up some maps and get directions to the campground. We were told by ferry personnel that the visitors center was easy to find. "You will run into right after you get off the boat". Well right off the boat was probably 4 miles up and around a sweeping highway into a mountain range. We were in our separate vehicles because it was cheaper to separate the car and rig for this ferry. It was a great relief that JC recognized we needed help right away. He stopped at a business where the visitors center should have been in our minds eye. I easily spotted him off the highway. With the bad weather it was getting dark early. We got better directions and were on our way. We skipped the visitors center and went to the park. A little bit of a tense start. The lesson here, when asking directions, get specific distances. "Just around the corner" can easily mean 5+ miles. LOL I miss my internet access.

Hurray, we are here in Newfoundland. I still can't believe it!

J.T. Cheezeman Provincial was ok. The road in was full of muddy pot holes. The park appeared to have some great hiking opportunities though. Maybe next time we can explore this area more.
