Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

Enjoying the music at the VFW...

Our friend Steve, boy can he play!

One side of a white 'bison' downtown...

And the other side...

Love the baskets along main Street, and the bear too!

Isn't this awesome!

And the flip side is too!

This one's a bit different...

Dick & Gary are almost lost behind this bad boy!

I thought Gary was THRILLED about this one, but he was really...

Tuesday night Gary & Lynne, Dick & Terry and Larry & I went downtown for the twice weekly entertainment. One of our favorites, Steve Gardner was on tonight. The weather was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We walked downtown a bit after the music was over checking out a few of this years 'buffalo's.

The Custer Stampede Buffalo Art Auction is a public art project created to showcase original bison artwork by artists from around the country. Artists are chosen by a selection committee and have the option to embellish the life-sized and table top fiberglass forms in any medium they choose or create a free form piece of bison themed artwork. This year’s free form art pieces range from paintings to sculpture to wood carvings. All artwork is currently on display in Custer City and the surrounding Black Hills through the end of September. There are certainly a wide variety of colors and designs!

We arrived home about 9pm and enjoyed rootbeer floats while I burned a couple of music CD's and a photo CD for Gary & Lynne to take with them when they left the following morning. Our time together was over all too soon, but it was time for them to move on to Montana to visit with family. They've been calling the past few days wondering when they were going to arrive. We had hoped they would be able to stick around for Gold Discovery Days but that didn't work out for them this year. With hugs and kisses we said our goodbye's, with a promise that they'll be back again next year and will stay much longer! Until then, travel safe dear friends....
