We took the ferry from Downtown Portland Maine to Peaks Island(Portland Maine). It is a short 17 minute ferry ride. The ferry holds about 12 cars but most people just walk on. The island is not very large and has everything you need a short walk from the ferry. We decided to rent a golf cart, the preferred mode of transportation along with bikes on the island. We got it for an hour and we asked if that was long enough to go around the island and the guy told us we could make 2 trips around in an hour. We did 1 trip with stops and exploring. We went to one of the only restaurants that was still open for the season and have crab melt sandwiches that were very good. Oh and the good part was it only cost us $7.70 round trip for the 2 of us. It was fun. When we got back to downtown we headed north to Freeport Maine to see the flagship store of LL Bean. It is open 24/7 so we had to go. We didn’t buy anything.
