Alaska Veteran Memorial Park

Alaska Train (on our evening walk)

Henry & Veronica (we have so much fun w/these people)

Our limo driver (ASAP Towing out of Soldotna) picked us up bright and early today 6 am!! We got dropped off at the GM dealership about 8:30 am, got the vehicle checked in and were given a rental car (compliments of GM). We went out to breakfast and then checked into a motel for the "wait and see what's wrong with the truck". We took this "down time" to get our laundry done and enjoy the luxuries of staying in a motel (long hot showers and cable tv).

We walked downtown Anchorage as it was near our motel and it felt good to walk after spending so much time in a vehicle the last few weeks; It was cool and rainy, but we're dressed for it, so no big deal. Downtown Anchorage has an area similar to the Nicolett Mall in downtown Mpls, lots of nice little shops and local flavor including bars, restaurants, visitor center, etc. We visited the Federal Bldg and had to go thru security screening similar to what we go thru at the airport. The Federal Bldg was a museum type of setting with lots of Anchorage history along with a theatre. We watched 2 movies, one about the 1964 Earthquake, and the other about the gold rush.

We had just bid farewell to our friends Henry & Veronica the day before in Palmer, with no plan of seeing them again for awhile, but alas, they were in Anchorage visiting some relatives when we made our un-planned visit to Anchorage, so we took advantage of the situation as they were free this evening for dinner, so we got together again. After a nice dinner at the hotel where we were staying, we took a nice long walk around Anchorage and down by the water. We really enjoy the time we spend with these very special people!!
