Canoas Quebrada to Ubajara National Park, Brazil

Today we left the beach town of Canoas Quebrada at around 7:00am as we continued our journey north. Today the weather is fine and hot again. It was a long drive and when we arrived at the National Park at about 5:00pm, it was at the wrong gate so we had to go back and out of that area and head over the mountains to the other side of the range which took quite some time. We camped in the grounds of quite a nice hotel and so quite a few people upgraded to rooms. The hotel wasn’t really set up for camping – we set up the tents in a nice grassy area that was actually a children’s play area – but we had to use the toilet facilities quite a walk away near the swimming pool and they were not very good. Because we had climbed to 800m above sea level, it was cooler here (only about 23°C) and sleeping was more enjoyable in the tent tonight – it was the first night camping for about a week. After dinner cooked by one of the groups in the hotel grounds, we went to bed around 10:30pm.
