|Well. It's been a peaceful, restful week. We've been pretty lazy but it sure has been nice! We enjoyed spending time with Austin before he & Lou headed out on Monday. Austin returned home to Virginia and Lou flew off to Ohio to attend her 50 year class reunion. She'll be staying and visiting with her Mom Ella, 93 years young and a super lady.
Jack & Barb arrived on Thursday and it didn't take them long to fall into the 'laid back' rest stage either! Sure is good to have them 'home' too. And, they bought us our 'care package' of jams, sauces, butters etc. As well as fresh berries, radishes and the list goes on. They have a wonderful garden and lots of fruit trees on their property back home in Ohio and we are so glad! And grateful for our 'package' every year. Thanks guys, we'll enjoy it for months to come and think of you with every bite, lol!
We did spend an entire day in Rapid City. First stop, a matinee movie. We saw Knight & Day, with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. It was one of those shoot'em up movies where they fire off a million rounds and nobody ever gets shot. Well, at least not the heroine and hero. But, Tom & Cameron had a bit of chemistry going on and it had some good lines, so we enjoyed it. Afterward we made our way to do a bit of shopping & then enjoyed a bite of dinner at the Golden Corral. Very tasty, although I've gotten where I eat so little I almost hate to go to a buffet. By the time I do the soup and salad I'm pretty much done. I did manage a bite or two of the main entrees and enjoyed the strawberries and watermelon too. Love all the fresh summertime fruits and veggies!
Larry got the Paddleski boat all set up and ready to go and we purchased a new battery while in town. And Jack has both his Sea Eagle Foldcat and his canoe ready as well. So we'll all be out fishing and motoring around in the next few days. Looking forward to that. We were thinking of going yesterday, but frankly, there are just too many folks in the area for the long holiday weekend. So, we decided to wait until Tuesday. Hope we catch a few good rainbow to have for dinner.
The evening's have been a mixture of sun and light showers. We've enjoyed a fire the last 3 nights though and thoroughly enjoy those. Jack is responsible for 'campfire' duty and he's pretty darn good at it. They actually build a nice fire every morning but I have yet to be up early enough to enjoy on of them! Larry takes his coffee mug and joins in most mornings. Maybe I'll hit the sack early and join them one of these mornings soon!
Well, that's it for now. You all have a safe and happy weekend. We plan to bbq and then enjoy the Custer fireworks on the 4th. There's a slight chance of rain in the forecast though so we'll have to wait and see. If you are on the road, travel safe!
