It feels great to be in Florida, just a few hours drive from our final destination. We stopped at the Florida Welcome Center to get that free glass of freshly squeezed orange juice that lets you know that you have arrived; these days the glass is thimble-sized, more of a metaphor than an actually OJ experience. We used to leave the welcome center with armloads of brochures, but these days with so much online, the racks were fairly empty.
The weather has been very kind this trip. A gentle wind behind us gave the gas mileage a nudge in the positive direction. Yesterday we had pondered making it south of Atlanta and were glad that we stopped when we watched the news on TV and saw that the expressway had been shut down by an escaped felon fleeing police. When we drove through the big city this morning after rush hour it was as busy as you would expect a major metropolis to be, but no standing still.
The sun is out, the temperatures are in the '70's and we're feeling good.
