WHO DAT!!!!

We made it, we're here, New Orleans. The drive today was an easy one.

As we drove into Mobile, Alabama, we saw a Carnival Cruise ship. Knowing that we travel by changing our mind on a dime, I tried to call Dianne & Dave in the RV to see if they wanted to detour and take a cruise. HA! HA! Mississippi greeted us with rain. It didn't last long, though. We crossed over Lake Pontchartrain. Now at least when they talked about it on TV, I'll be familiar with it.

Our RV park is in the heart of the French Quarter. Therefore, walking distance to the heart of things. It was soooooo HOT today. My eyes were sweating and my sweat had sweat.

We walked for 4 hours today, from one end to the other. We stopped and had dinner and then Beignet's. Mmmmm, mmmmm, good. Reminded us of Jersey Shore Zeppoles. I have to admit, the city smells of beer, alcohol and some other things that will remain nameless. (use your imagination) The town was busy today. There is a game tonight between Tullane and Ole Miss and the fans were out in full force.

Ted made the big mistake of wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers t-shirt in Saints country. He got a lot of comments.

We visited the oldest Catholic cematary (see photos). Stood on the Riverwalk and looked over the Mississippi River. You'll see a variety of photos from our drive in and the activities in the city.

Also, take a look at photo #21. You will see the color difference in the building from the bottom up. You will see the Katrina water line.

After all that walking we jumped into the pool and hot tub to relax our aching feet.

We are looking forward to another day in the city tomorrow. We plan on taking the Natchez paddle boat ride on the Mississippi. In the evening we are going back in to see the lunatics come out at night. There were definitely some out in the daytime too.
