|After our picnic lunch we continued our journey, stopping to check out one more 'strange' roadside attraction that we somehow missed yesterday. Wow, these folks sure have vivid imaginations! A few yards on down the road a small herd of deer decided to cross the road in front of us. I was in the back seat so photos were a bit tough! But I got a shot of one of the last does as she made a graceful leap over the fence before bounding away with her buddies.
Moving along we decided to take a different route home & visit the old placer camp of Osceola. A fire in the 1940s destroyed much of the town, but a few buildings and a cemetery remain. And what appears to be ongoing mining operations. But it was a nice detour never the less. The guys stopped at Major's Place again today as they decided they wanted to add a signed dollar bill to the every growing collection stapled to the ceiling/walls. I think they had a quick libation as Lou & I waited patiently in the car.
The skies were clouding up by the time we got back on the road so we decided to stop at Cave Lake for a quick look. We plan to take the 33 mile Success Loop tomorrow but the weather might not co-operate. Cave Lake starts the loop but if it rains we'll be doing something else so we stopped just in case.
Arriving home we decided to go downtown for a bite to eat. The Old Nevada Club is an interesting place and the food at the Jailhouse is good so we decided to do both. We had a nice meal and then played around a bit. Larry & I won $10 and Dick & Lou won $20 so we were all quite proud of ourselves! It was a full day and tomorrow will be our last together. Dick & Lou will be moving on as they make their way to South Dakota. We've sure had a great time the past couple of days.
Larry and I wish you an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and hope that you are able to set aside a few minutes of the day to honor all of the Americans who have died fighting for the thing we like the most about our America: the freedom we have to live free. As RV'ers we have really come to recognize the importance of that statement! We would like to thank all of our veterans and current soldiers for your service and sacrifice for our country.
