|It was a glorious day, 81 and sunny. We started the new year off on a very high note. The last couple of weeks we have been going to church at St. Paul's UMC about 20 minutes from here. It is the church that our Decatur Sunday school friend's sister goes to. Yesterday was Stop Hunger Now day. 200 people attended the short service which included training on preparing 20,000 meals. It was assembly line style set up in their huge fellowship hall. In brief, we made dry soup with the ingredients of soy, vegetables, rice and vitamins. These were all combined in order down a funnel into a bag. The work went very quickly with all the hands. Everyone had a specific job. After 8 bags were filled a runner took them to be weighed, sealed and boxed. These meals go all over the world and only to schools and orphanages. This way the parents send their kids to the school where they know they will be fed. Looks like a win win to us. Then we took a ride out to the air force base where the Airplane Bone yard is. Tucson is where all military aircraft go when their lifespan has run its course. Planes as far as your eye could see, all types. We found some back roads and got some excellent shots. Shirley capped the evening off with a walk with our TMM friend Vern as they walked through some of the surrounding neighborhoods. I stayed home and rested up for my big day tomorrow. About 11:15 AM Mountain Time is my scheduled operation. I will blog in the morning and Shirley will pick up for a day or so to let you know that I'm doing fine. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I am looking forward to the relief. Enjoy the pics.
