4/19/08 - Topeka

Fun trip today – there was road construction when we got to Emporia, and we couldn’t figure out how to get to Interstate 35 – all roads led to the Kansas Turnpike, so we decided we’d better go that way. Got off the turnpike just south of Topeka and drove to 2 RV parks before we could get a spot. But at least we have wi-fi... I did a couple loads of laundry and we got caught up on e-mails. Hope to make it to southern Iowa by Sunday afternoon, and home on Monday (depending on wind and rain).

Finally got to see “green grass”, and saw a few oil wells in the Kansas fields. Stopped in a small town to get gas, and found some “Wild Bill” beef jerky for Bob (haven’t been able to find any since on the way to California) and I got an A&W “Rootbeer Float” that tasted like cream cheese frosting (yummy). Sure is great to see green lawns again, and Weebles is really happy!
