We stayed close to Flagstaff today and went to two National Monuments just a half hour away. Sunset Crater Vocano National Monument was very similar to other Volcano National Parks we have been in. Lava flows, domes and the mountain with the crater. This was in a naturally beautiful setting and a gorgeous day for a drive and walks with clear skies and temps in the mid 50s. From there we went to the Wupatki National Monument. Included in this hugh track of land are ruins of free standing Pueblo homes built 1000 to 800 years ago. While they have been restored, they are the original natural homes these people lived in. We even got great views of the Painted Dester. And the views....oh my. We have seen some awsome sights on our adventure and this stands right up with the best. If this wasn't enough, we drove back into Flagstaff and had a nice casual diner in a restaurant named Collins. That is the name of our youngest daughter. Enjoy the pics.
