Tuesday 30th August - head to Tenterfield - South it is!!!!
Time to move on - we’ve been here 8 days and enjoyed every day.
Today we head south from Rathdowney, destination Tenterfield. While it is not a huge distance we expect it to take a while as there is so much winding road, up and down mountain ridges. We departed at 10:30 and stopped in Woodenbong for m/tea at 11:35, then moved on through the hilly terrain forging south towards the Bruxner Highway which runs east-west between Casino and Tenterfield. Our lunch stop was taken when we reached the highway a small park at the junction. It would also double as a free camp with the presence of a long-drop. Tenterfield was only an Hour and qtr away and we arrived at the Showgrounds at 3:30.
What a great drive it has been. Magnificent forests, open plateaus, and six separate bell-bird colonies to pass through. Two of those colonies were so large we were driving through the area for 5+ minutes before we passed out of the colony. A real treat to listen to so many.
