|We had a safe trip to Ely on Monday and arrived in time to unload the trailer before dark. After getting the grandfather's clock unpacked and set up, we loaded Mom and Dad's clock and delivered it to sister Lori's. There was a fair amount of snow along the curbs and sides of the streets so unloading it and carrying it up her stairs was a bit scary, but we made it with the clock intact, so all is well!
The weather was clear, although cold Monday night but Tuesday was a different story. Mom, Lori and I went out for lunch and while we were in the restaurant a snowstorm moved in. We watched through the windows as the snow fell harder and harder. Lori decided to go back home rather than do a bit of shopping with us. Smart girl! We came out of the grocery store to a complete whiteout! The wind had also kicked up and it wasn't long before Lare called to see if we were okay. We finished up and headed home as soon as I could see, glad to finally be there, safe and sound.
Later that evening Larry went and picked Lori up so she could have dinner with us. Marion joined us after he got off work. While we waited for him I made a couple of pans of fudge. It turned out great. Mom's recipe is the best, I forgot how good it is! I don't eat much candy, but have to make an exception for this particular fudge!
After dinner we celebrated Christmas. It was a wonderful evening and I feel so blessed that both of my parents are still here to celebrate this special time of the year with us. I realized today that Mom and Dad's grandchildren have now got children! That makes them great-grandparents, something I don't remember having as a child. I plan to make sure these children realize how blessed they are to have an opportunity to know and love their great-grandparents! Something to think about....
All too soon it was time to load up and head back to town. Sister Joyce and niece Tiffany and her family are all arriving in Ely on Thursday. So Mom and Dad will have more special time with family over Christmas. We wish we could be everywhere, with all of our family on Christmas day, but of course that is not possible. So, if you are a family member and are reading this, know that we love and miss you and wish we could be with you too!!!!
And to all of our wonderful reader's, we wish you a very Merry Christmas! If you are traveling, be safe my friends....
