Bob and Shirley's Great Adventure 2011-12 travel blog

Scenic drive

Whiskeytown Lake

Nothing too exciting today. A travel day with no real fun stops. Our first however was Arcata CA the home of Humboldt State University where my brother Glenn got his masters. On one of our guy trips Dad brought us up here to see the town and Redwoods. Needed to run a few errands and look around a bit. We then stopped for a nice lunch in Willow Creek CA, a cute little town. Back in the mountains and switchbacks as we have headed for the Shasta Trinity National Forest. It was 35 years ago we were here and have fond memories. It rained practically all day as Shirley drove to the various summits and down the grades on two lane roads (better than yesterday's one laner). We have pulled in for the night in a run of the mill private campground but the good thing is we can hear all the cars/trucks on I-5 but it only cost $14.30 with Passport America. Weather clearing for the next few days and temps rising so should be great. Maybe even get the shorts out again. Just a couple of pics....enjoy
