Unfortunately our very large cruise ship has a recent history of drive line mechanical problems and they have resulted in not being able to sail into five of the eleven ports on our itinerary. They are Bangkok (Thailand), Saigon, Vietnam, Komodo Island, Airlie Beach and Brisbane, Australia. We end up missing the Great Barrier Reef.

Passengers are nearly up in arms and a Senior Vice President has been flown in for a "town hall" meeting later today. They have offered $1000 credit and 50% off a future cruise but many are seeking a full refund. More to come....

With the increase in cruise time we have big decisions to make.....should we eat at one of the specialty restaurants, go for long walks, determine when happy hour begins, meet friends or just hang out.

Bali was surprising with over 3 million people crammed into a small island. Unfortunately we only saw the congestion with traffic jams everywhere and thousands of motorcycles intermixed in the traffic. It is not a place we would want to vacation in the future.

We enjoyed our day in Darwin seeing their Parliament building, historical sites of WWII bombing by the Japanese three months after Pearl Harbour, and seeing the history of 'the Flying Doctors ' organization started in the early 1900's with camels. There park and beach area just off downtown is second to none.

Since the last update Norwegian have stepped up to the plate and offered very fair compensation for our cruise difficulties. We have booked another cruise in May 2018 and looking at another.

We stopped in Cairns but were deluged with rain so we didn't do much. Kathy has come down with a nasty cold but is on the mend.

We are off to Sydney where we disembark and move on to our independent travel.
