|Tuesday morning found us heading to Clarkston, WA where Dale and I were hosting a McKenzie NW Chapter campout at Hell's Canyon RV Park. We have been staying at this RV Park since it opened and hoped our McKenzie friends would like this park as well. It is located at the Marina on the Snake River in Clarkston just off Hwy 12.
We had 6 other rigs join us for this campout and sorry that three other rigs were unable to make the trip. The park has a wonderful club house and they let us use it for the duration of our stay. Loren & Kathleen Koller invited us to visit the ranch where Loren grew up which is outside of Pomeroy, WA about 30 miles away from the park. We spent a wonderful evening on the Koller property visiting the once used Tramway that hauled grain from up on the cliffs down to the river then on to Loren's brother, Roger's house for a BBQ. We learned that the house we visited was an original house ordered from Sears Roebuck catalog in 1916. Loren's other brother, Randy, barbequed Koller beef hamburgers for all of us and we helped celebrate Karen Ringness' birthday and Anderson's and Vollstedt's anniversaries. Roger, Diane, and Randy's hospitality was enjoyed by all of us and we thank them for such a marvelous evening. Everyone checked their trucks before leaving to make sure all the kitties stayed on the Koller Ranch.
The next day many of us attended the local Garfield County Fair. Small hometown county fair with lots of old machinery, and little kids showing their animals. Wonderful time!
We enjoyed a "bring your own meat to BBQ" dinner with the BBQ's provided by the park. Saturday morning breakfast was fixed by the wagonmasters and Saturday night we enjoyed dinner at Rooster's on the Snake River. After an early dinner we tried to play Ladder Ball at Vollstedt's. Jim and I (Margi) did manage to beat the competition, but Jim did most of the work.
Sunday morning came and it was time for us to make an early get away as we were headed for Caldwell, Idaho.
Thanks to all the friends who came to the campout. We had a great time at a great park with a wonderful group of people.
