|Well, after a day of travelling on shuttles and several plane changed I arrived in Canada. Some say Canada is like the US only duller, but I think its like the US would be if it had New Zealanders living in it. People are generally friendlier, and less pretentious.
Arrived in Calgary to find that American Airlines had managed to drench all of my gear, so decided to spend a couple of nights in Calgary waiting for it to dry and generally exploring. Spent a day sightseeing - went up the sky tower, to a 'first nation' muesum and generally looked about. Overall, I think that I liked Vancouver better than Calgary - Calgary felt more industrial and heavier, whereas Vancouver had a more 'go-ahead' feel - and was closer to mountains, regional parks etc - that said, I haven't really spent that much time in either city...
They have been having freakishly warm weather here - not boding well for snowboarding. Was considering flagging Fernie away, but then I found an Aussie in the hostel who was looking to sell a cheap bus fare to Fernie - so I decided to go anyway.
