Well, we are extremely relieved to report that we actually made it to San Francisco this time around! We will be leaving here tomorrow for our first international flight (to fiji!!) and we have had such a wonderful time out here! The weather has been nothing but beautiful. Our trip to the bay area has not been filled with any sightseeing as we have been visiting people that mean a lot to us. We arrived on Thursday totally pooped and crashed at our adorable bed and breakfast. We are staying at the Hayes Valley Inn (www.hayesvalleyinn.com) in a great neighborhood. It is cheap and very pleasant which suits us just fine. On Friday, we spent the afternoon with Josh's grandma and then visited with his cousin, Jill, and her adorable (and lively) 4 year-old twins, Amelia and David. After an evening of Thai food, we were again exhausted and fell asleep reading (what party animals we are). Saturday, we had brunch with Anne and Mark as we chatted travel and attempted to convince them to join us somewhere along the way ( you know you want to...). We then drove south and after meeting Scottibobatti and his girlfriend Marlo in Menlo Park, we made it the home of to an old professor of mine in Santa Cruz, Josh Karter. To call it a home is an understatement. He built this beautiful house himself in between a meadow overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the redwood forests. The three of us (me and Josh squared) drank wine, discussed life, teaching, etc. wandered orchards, and watched the sunset over ocean. We will soon be on the other side of that ocean! We were so excited that along the beautiful drive back up to San Francisco, we stopped along the rugged beaches to soak it in and touch the ocean. We just left Josh's Aunt Diana where we had lunch in Union Square. We are so wonderfully excited about our adventures and everyone we meet only supports our enthusiasm! TOnight we are headed to Oakland to have dinner with Arlen and enjoy the last of our Bay area adventure. We would also like to thank everyone we have met up with for making time in their schedules, showing us such hospitality, and giving us great advice. This will be the last entry before we head out into other borders!
