Today's destination is Charleston, SC with a stop at Brookgreen Gardens for a tour and lunch. Once a plantation it is now a botanical and sculpture garden. Not exactly what our minds eye of touring plantations was going to be, but this was a very beautiful place.

The garden tour guide was very knowledgeable and really enjoyed her job. That always makes such a difference in what I get out of a tour.

The gardens had a nice little boat ride that showed us how large the property was at one time, some remnants of wooden water control gates and a few bird nests dotted here and there.

Mom was not feeling too good, but hung in there. We are realizing that this tour has much more walking, rushing and go, go, go than expected. Most of our traveling companions are from Britain and have expressed the same feeling. The itinerary put together by our travel tour guide accompanying us has been a little vague.

The weather today is hotter and much more humid with threatening thunder showers. Many of our traveling companions are in their early 70's. There was a lot of sitting down on benches taking a breather.

I would like to mention that the original trip that my mother and I signed up for was cancelled. We were given an alternative or get our money back. We hated to cancel and this one sounded similar. i think we were misled, but we will see.

This afternoon's activity is a guided tour of Charleston and then a late check-in. We are on our own tonight.
