The Willamette Valley

The Christmas Tree capital of the US

Back in the woods

We put the camper back on the big honkin' dually and took off this morning refreshed. We headed to Silver Falls State Park. This park has 10 falls! We saw but one but it was a beauty. It was mostly overcast and drippy when we arrived. Stopped into the "lodge" cafe for some hot drinks. WOW ! This section of the park was noted as the Historic South Falls area. Historic because it was built by the CCC. Man did they do great work. We have seen a number of CCC made parks and buildings. There were 5 buildings and all a work of art completed in the late 1930s. We could use a CCC now but I am certain the ACLU would oppose. We then headed for Eugene OR where we are camping tonight. On our way we stopped into Billy Joe's restaurant which turned out to be a Chinese restaurant that offered burgers etc. for lunch. Who'da thunk. Headed through the back roads to our campground on the banks of the McKenzie River. Nice secluded wooded sites with full hookups and paved roads and pads. Roughing it ain't so bad. Heading back to the coast since it appears the ever present NW rain is going to take a 3 day break. Enjoy the pics.
