The drive through San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge and north on Highway 101 was easy and uneventful for both motorhomes and their occupants. In Petaluma, as always, we stay at the Elk's Lodge which provides both affordable and convenient RV parking in relation to getting together with family and seeing all that this lovely, small city has to offer. We love it here!

Centrally located 32 miles north of San Francisco in Sonoma County Wine Country, Petaluma, one of the oldest cities in California, with one of the best preserved Historic Downtown Areas and on the National Register of Historic Places, is the ideal base for exploring more than 195 wineries, the redwoods, dramatic coast, Point Reyes National Seashore and the entire Bay Area.

Unfortunately, we are all pretty maxed out on sightseeing! We do manage a nice walk around Shollenberger Park, about 3 miles round trip from the RV park. A few drives locally takes us through the downtown area and out along the countryside, now green and lush with cows and sheep grazing and vineyards sprouting new growth.

We now look forward to lots of fun family

time and Rodger and Sharon

get to meet all the Bogart Bunch. Norm and Wendy

had us all over for barbecued tri-tip one afternoon and Terri and Clint

with Daniel in tow

came up from Half Moon Bay. Lots of pictures are included. Unfortunately Noelle couldn't be with us but we'll get more of her in days ahead!

Our friends can only stay a few days since they plan to visit the Oregon coast on their way to Eugene for RV work and are on a bit of a time schedule. We have so enjoyed our weeks together in Anza Borrego and our travels thus far to Petaluma and now look forward to meeting up once again next winter!

We will be in Petaluma and around the Bay area probably until mid-June at which time we will most likely decide to head back to the northwest, though with diesel fuel prices now in the $4.30 range we might have to re-think our travel plans at that time.

In the meantime, we will hope to spark some interest in whatever day excursions or RV getaways we embark on so please stay tuned!
