Home is where we park it... travel blog

Very impressive place

This was the back of the site of one couple. It was...

There we are on a plain lot. The little shed was in...

We are at the end of our free week at this beautiful resort. StoneRidge does have a lot to offer in amenities except cell phone service. Wi-fi is $25 per week or $50 a month. A cell tower is supposed to be going by the end of this summer. I mentioned in an earlier blog that we received a free week when we attended the FMCA rally in Indio, CA a couple of months ago. JC routed us in such a way that we were able to take advantage of it.

The sales tour was very low key and consisted mostly of a short tour of the property and answering our questions. The average RV lot with a cement pad was about $50,000. This included a $10,000 golf membership which could be dropped. The monthly maintenance fee on the lot is $130. The golf membership maintenance fee is $1650 for the first person and $750 for the second person annually. Non-member golf fees were after 2pm was $82 for 2 people with cart.

I think there was one lot for just under $35,000 (no golf membership). There was one lot for resale that had an elaborate stainless steel kitchen, patin cover, built in seating, hot tub and more for the paltry sum of $250,000+. Yikes! Many of the residents here have places in Indio or Palm Springs, CA and then come here for the summer.

There are numerous options for buying, renting and timeshare opportunities in the recreation area. Someone had a big dream and has managed to keep it alive. There are continuing plans to expand as well.

The area is beautiful. The people we met were very friendly. But, you have to want to play golf, water sports and fish. It is a long way to any town of appreciable size...just a little too far out of the way for me. All the costs I mentioned above does not include the storage building/shed, patio, and any landscaping other than the existing grass. I think this place is just a cut above our lifestyle and budget. For many this might be just the place. Checkout their website.

A few other tidbits is motor coaches only, at least 31 feet long and fairly new. You are allowed to wash your vehicles on site. That's because everything is to appear shiny and new. Nothing is allowed to be stored under or around the site. You have to have a little storage building. Of course, they have to match in general design, material and color as all the others. There is a separate area for trailers that are being towed, or car dollies, etc.

The weather turned very cold and windy these last couple of days so we did not get to play another round of golf or go on another motorcycle ride. Next time. We may visit here again. A month's stay is $800 in the Motor Coach Village.
