|Our next stop today was to view Dawson Falls. We arrived, parked easily, and followed the short 10 minute walk on an ample trail to several excellent views of this 65 foot high cascade. Known as 'Little Niagara', this might have been my favorite fall today. I seem to gravitate toward the wider, more powerful ones for some reason. Perhaps because I am in awe of anything closely resembling Niagara. After viewing the falls from the front, we took the path along the side, reaching the point where the water spills. Wow, it was loud and thundering and beautiful. I took a few very short clips for you to try and experience a bit of it for yourself.
Moving on, we crossed what is commonly known as the Mush Bowl. A beautiful rapid, wow. We stopped, parked and were able to walk out onto the one vehicle at a time Murtle River bridge to get a better view. Not sure this is really allowed, but not one single vehicle tried to cross while we were there. As we walked back to our parked truck, one did finally come along. I am sure during the summer months it would not have been possible to stand on that bridge, but today it was a nice perk to being here this time of the year. Time to move on...
