Bob and Shirley's Great Adventure 2011-12 travel blog

Just a little wet

Branches down next to us

Rainin' inside the pool area

Pretty dreary

Decided we needed a bigger RV

One Shirley can drive

She can see over the wheel

Has two slideouts

And a bar

That's why Shirley drives

Today we went 12 whole miles.... but an important 12 miles. About 5 miles west and 7 miles north. We left our camp ground on Florida highway 60 and headed for fuel. $3.83.9 for diesel and that is a bargoon! We needed to stop at Camping World for an item for our camper. They sell all kinds of stuff for RVs including TVs. I got engrossed in the weather problems that were about to occur right where we were. Taking our planned trip did not seem wize so we decided to stay right where we were. Camping World is on the campus of Lazy Days RV sales/service/campground. Perhaps the largest RV dealer on the east coast. We found a reception center with coffee, nice furniture and big screen TVs. We watched the storms coming in and they were BIG. Tornadoes touched down in the town we stayed in four nights ago and there were heavy storms and tornadoes along Florida highway 60 which we had left an hour and a half before! There was free lunch for the many of us who were stranded and wifi. I could be underestimating but there were probably a billion dollars worth of RVs here. We felt like we were in good company. The storms did not stop and were actually heaviest on the route we were going to take to see the manatees at Homossasa Springs. Because the second wave of storms was not going to pass through until 8 pm we decided to stay at the Lazy Days campground. Since we are first time visitors our stay is FREE!!!Talk about making lemonade out of lemons. High and dry again. A few damp clothes but far better than many made out today. I believe the manatees will still be there tomorrow. Thank you Lord for thinking about me (and Shirley) I'm (we) alive and doin' fine. Enjoy the pics.
