Indian at Buffalo Bill Historic Site

Beaded doll papoose

Grandkids and us

Barge on towpath

Mentor house

We stopped in a really well done historic site in Cody, WY - the Buffalo Bill Historic Stie - which is 5 museums all in one place. Guns, Indians, Buffalo Bill and all things western, Natural History, and Western Art. I've included just 2 pictures - I was so taken by the gorgeous and so time-consuming Indian Beadwork. The first shows an Indian and what he might have to adorn his horse and his body - all the bead work is done in those tiny little glass beads. How many hours, days, months would it take??? But then they also took time to make a beautiful little doll papoose with hundreds of beads. Amazing.

Then it was on to Cedar Rapids to see John, Joanna and the grandkids - again. Had we not shortened our trip and changed the route - this visit wouldn't have happened - so that made our plan change a bit more pallitable.

We stopped in Ohio to bike the towpath of a fairly new national park right near where we used to live in Mentor. It is a 22 mile long joining of various parks in the area with the central feature being the historic towpath along the canal - now a wonderful level bike path. I took a picture of what it would have looked like back in the 1800s with an old barge and canal house.

Finally - we drove past our old neighborhood and house. We were amazed at how clean and well kept the area and houses were - now over 35 years old.

So - it's home to Bow, NH tomorrow.
