At last...the Trekies have landed for the first time in Florida. We once again have internet access for the next two days so hope to catch up from here...Larry

Panama City, Mexico Beach and Port St Joe are an almost continuous string of white sand beaches, broken occassionally by inlets and coves spanned by tall bridges and long causeways. The beaches are rimmed by tall pine trees and swampy brush and palmetto groves. The Air Force must like this area as there are several bases along the coast - tough duty. And then we see rows of beach houses, most built up on stilts, and painted all sorts of fanciful colors. Weather has been too cool to do more than walk on the beach and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. We see signs warning about aligators, but so far no aligators! Had a serious talk with Rocky about those short legged dogs with the big mouth, not sure he understands they are "bad dogs."

We are still trying to see a shuttle launch while in Florida - they keep being postponed. So we have booked more days in that area. And we are looking forward to our trip to Disney World. We always pick up lots of info at the Welcome Center when we enter a new state, so we have been checking the brochures! We also got a good tip about an rv park on the Keys. Rv parks are very pricey here so this one was pretty reasonable, and we were able to book four days right on the water. We're going to the Keys, Baby! Florida has so much to see and do - this may take longer than we thought....Gail
