Morning on Deck

3-19

Lazy rising...blue outside, sea, sky...we discuss our plans thinking of today only. Later we walk down to town center and at Blue Star ferry discover we have a lot more time than we thought. Because of the strike in Athens ( Piraeus), ferries even between islands are limited! Next known/scheduled ferry coming/leaving here is SATURDAY, ha! Plans! This too shall change...Bon is now on internet to discover what our travel agency in Iran is able to tell us. I sit in a very upscale cafe with street side outside seating drinking Greek coffee - strong, a bit bitter in a tiny cup...it will probably take me the entire hour Bon & Mari are on the internet.

Took bus to black sand beach at Perissa first then later enjoyed the view at the other end/side of the island at Io. Met a Chinese fellow, actually when we asked where he was from he said Chicago but moved there 30 years ago. Really fine camera which he had Bon use to take photos of him in various poses, ha! Then later 2 cousins joined him and it was a kick watching them and their camera antics, see photos. On our way back to catch the bus we ran into 4 Colombians who asked directions and I enjoyed speaking Spanish with them - they speak Spanish the clearest of all Latinos!

3-20

Really nice museum of pre-history/Minoan culture stuff from finds of city life buried in 17th century BC eruption of volcano! Pottery even found intact!

Late in the afternoon we went to look down on he old port and the 'new' cable car to it. As seemingly everywhere, the views are spectacular!
